Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy covers moververify.com. The short version: you can browse and search this entire site without an account, and we don’t want your personal information.
What we collect from you
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views, searches, and clicks out to federal record systems. This collects an IP-derived approximate location, device and browser type, referring page, and the pages you view. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles.
- Anything you type into a correction form. The correction form on a company page opens your own email client with a pre-filled message. Nothing is transmitted to us until you send that email, and it arrives as ordinary email — we run no form-processing service.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, logins or passwords — there is nothing to sign up for.
- No payment information. Nothing on this site is for sale to visitors.
- No sensitive personal information as defined under U.S. state privacy laws: no government identifiers, financial account details, precise geolocation, health data, biometrics, or information about racial or ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation or union membership.
- We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have.
An important distinction: carrier data is not visitor data
This site publishes detailed information about moving companies. That information is public business-registration data published by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration — company names, USDOT numbers, operating authority, insurance filings, safety records and business addresses.
It would be inaccurate to tell you we "handle no personal data" and leave it there. Many interstate carriers are sole proprietors, and for those, a business name and business address may also identify a person. So, precisely:
- We collect essentially nothing about visitors beyond standard analytics.
- We republish public federal business records about carriers, exactly as FMCSA publishes them.
- We withhold street addresses from public carrier pages and show only city, state and ZIP, even though the full address is public at the source.
If you are a carrier and believe information on this site is inaccurate, use the correction form on your company page or write to [email protected]. Note that we cannot remove accurate public federal records at request — that is what makes the site worth anything — but we will correct errors promptly and will re-check any record you flag.
Cookies and analytics opt-out
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish repeat visits. We set no advertising cookies. You can opt out in any of these ways:
- Install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Enable "Do Not Track" or your browser’s tracking protection — most modern browsers block analytics by default in private windows.
- Block cookies for this domain in your browser settings. The site works fully with cookies blocked; nothing here depends on them.
Your privacy rights
MoverVerify is operated from Texas and is accessible nationally. Depending on where you live — California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia and a growing number of other states — you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you and why.
- Request a copy of it.
- Request that we correct or delete it.
- Opt out of its sale or of targeted advertising — we do neither, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of them, email [email protected]. In practice, the only visitor data we are likely to hold is analytics data tied to a device identifier rather than to you by name, so tell us enough to locate it — approximate dates of your visits helps. We will respond within the time limits your state’s law requires, and we will not charge you.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Third parties
- Google Analytics — analytics, subject to Google’s privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery; processes request logs to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
- Google Fonts — serves the typefaces used on this site.
- Affiliate partners — if you click a quote link, that partner’s own privacy policy governs what happens next. We pass no personal information to them; they may set their own cookies once you arrive. See our affiliate disclosure.
Links to FMCSA systems are ordinary outbound links to federal websites, which have their own privacy policies.
